Helen of Troy

By Damien Knight

The legends say men fought a war for you
That your beauty was so unrivaled
You were the incarnation of aphrodite
Oh Helen I know this must be true
No one has eyes that stare so deep
You make this old Spartan’s heart beat
How can I describe my love to you
It is the ocean as wide as it is deep
Every morning I eager wait for love’s sign
And every morning there you are dear
Lady of troy don’t disappoint
You who is an incarnation of goddess divine
I swear my heart, and perhaps my soul
To tend, care and love you true
Hold you close forever more
I, with you wish to grow old
