Haunted by Her

The lady of shadows haunts me
And my heart feels lost at sea
Alone I am an empty king
But you stand here reminding me
Of promises I made to write
To pour my soul on page
So tired I spend all my time
Studying ever so late
And when the days fade to night
If I sleep will I again wake
I tire of the glaring lights
Aniya left me to my fate
And I hold everything said
Between us always in memory
Lest I be once more dead
And heart set free

Missing Aniya (2012)

She is the light that heals my soul
I the guardian who loves her dearly
Ever watching I want her near me
Princess it is you that makes me whole
It’s her voice I want so much to hear
Her laugh a bell ringing clear
This love painful drips like blood from skin
Darling I want to hold you deep within
Every time I wake I miss you already
My emotions such a complicated thing
Oh Aniya, my heart refuses to sing
Let me be with you for eternity

To Anika Sora – A Letter

Dear Aniya,

I see you in ever dream, my thoughts always of you. I love you and wish only your utmost happiness. I delight in the softness of your emery black waves; they frame your small round face with delicate curls. The way your lips, ruby painted, frown in disdain at me, or laugh when I tell a story. The confused look your cinnamon brown eyes get when I say the wrong things.
Lately those eyes are drowned in despairs, your slim shoulders have heaved in my arms. You leaned against me weeping and I stroked your hair in comfort. I have clasped your slim hands, perfectly manicured with delicate nails, in my own rough hands and assured you of my devotions.
Yet, how can I save you from your pain, how can I find you? I cannot even save myself. Last night I dreamt once more. Folding laundry on the line, you wore a simple cotton dress, light blue. Your hair pinned up, I watched from the window. Your mother, hair streaked with silver, helped place clothes out, I could hear the bubble of conversation but not the words.

Aniya, nay Anika Sora, Lady of dreams, I would plead you stay with me. Always at my side. That the moments I dream of a normal life, you and I, sitting on the bed chatting. The tv in the living area playing local news. The conversations, talking of the children, enjoying a happy life. The illusion always shattered when you realise I must go again. The tears as I tell you I am leaving, waking from the dream. Last night it happened too. I knew I had to go and held you tight, kissed you, and said goodbye. I will go mad, one day I may wish to remain in dream forever, never to wake again.

Did You Miss Breaking Me? (2012)

Did you miss me
Darling, your heart has yet
To be as broken, o no
Love your pride hasn’t been stolen
Did you miss me?
As you broke me down
As you drug my heart around?
Nothing like the love I had
This difficult emotion
Did you miss me princess
As you broke me down
No your heart hasn’t been torn
The way you slashed mine
Your pride is whole
While I cry myself to sleep
Yeah you never missed me
The cut it runs so deep
I’ll just forget you
I’ll try to lie my love away
Aniya isn’t real, no one ever stays.

The Shadow Waits

What shade is a bitter heart?
A man in sour mood, broken over
Healed how? Water poured on ancient wound?
Alas, mine is the sort of solid pain
A man doomed, nay consumed
Vainly with her quiet stubborn prose
Alas when and why did I come to love
This witty, shy and stubborn woman so?
The shade of my heart is her emery hair
The wound healed by her cinnemon stare
And so I am here for her, the shadow
Waiting the return of his lady

Valentine for Sora

I think of the roses in the market
Flowers red, delicate and fair
Not one worthy of your beauty
None would match your emery hair
I ponder all the chocolates sweets
Alas, none as sweet as the agony
Fair, Sora, I feel when I dream of you
The markets have no item for me
To mark my devotion, Aniya, to a dream
No perfume as perfect as your scent
No flower radiant as your bloom
Alas, is there no token I might present
Then let me come with a poem for you
I come before my queen. I am your king
My love is true, pure and unending
It will be hymns of love to you I sing

Have Happiness

By Damien Knight

A falling star, how do visions fade
Dreams are merely so, yet here I stay
Waiting Anika Sora, for the day you know
That in your dreams it’s my glow

Just because you set your heart
Determined not to let the past depart
But in past is where I knew your grace
The painted lips, tear stained face

Cry no more my lamp lit beloved
See my hands here ungloved?
I spoke true my visions light
And my Anika, do you see my plight?

Once long ago in another life
We were wed, you were my wife
You can tie yourself how ever you wish
It changes nothing, have happiness

Write For You

By Damien Knight

I can’t help how I feel
I have tried not to think
Words such my heart steal
And I do not sleep a wink

Plead I not address you
I wrote true my soul
Yet, mystery give me clue
Aniya, make me whole

I waited all my life
For her to find me
you, my hearts strife
Allow my soul to see

Forgive me if it hurts
I do not mean you pain
These kind thoughtful words
Not to drive you insane

I wrote simply my heart
And I’d write again
Even if it tore me apart
Just to hear you again

Inspiration

By Damien Knight

Is inspiration a trifle thing
To plea the raven sing?
What verse will he give?
When he simply fights to live.

Her love a caress against skin
Reeling him back in.
He longs for her like water,
How he misses the moon’s daughter.

Aniya, see how Koraki aches?
How his poor heart breaks.
I promised I’d never leave,
It is you that lets me breathe.
