By Damien Knight

My muse, she threatens my heart
I know she did not intend this
I am weak to the ways of love
Worrying, longing for her happiness
When she leaves, she never will
And I, yes me, will be on her mind
Is it what we desired? I say no.
Yet, I believe my sight, she’d read my lines
I predicted once she’d come
Lured by poetry with no desire for me
She’d love another who matched my frame
Somehow, I’d help set her free
I don’t know if now is that dream
I stare dazed at my computer screen
My muse similar to my visions
If I ignore her is it ignoring the foreseen
