In Every Dream

They call me Kim Soo Ah
Friends call me Kimmy
She smiled bright with cherub glow
I handed her fallen books
Blushed with nerves I stole away
From her radiance
I lamented my parting so
Describing her emery hair
To shop keep as being a violent sea
Of dark obsidian streaked
With natural ebony browns
Her curls pinned behind doll like ears
Eyes of honey brown cinnamon
I cursed my anxious shy nature
Shop Keep laughed and says to me
Not all men are winners see
Yet she after me pursued
To my utmost astonishment
And traded numbers
She texted later to my good fortune
To ask to dine that night with me
So out we go but before
I show up at Soo Ah’s door
Dressed in lovely white sun gown
She bids me in to wait
She tend her make up, I sit down
On tapes I see a name
“Sorah’s Don’t Touch”
So Rah? Soo Ah? Or is this Sora?
I call to her and ask
Who is Sorah?
Those tapes are a friend’s.
She pops one in and I watch
The girl dressed in vibrant Han Bok
sings a most  lovely melody
The friend filming claps at end
“Fantastic Sora, beautiful as always.”
She cheers, I shut it off and sigh
So realistic, I mutter, every detail
The apartment, the campus, the store
But Sora, I am dreaming, and it’s you again
Can I not escape the lady of mist?
Will these visions never end?
She sees my sad smile
Oh, then it’s you, Damien?
That, Damien, where are you
Kentucky fair one, asleep
And where, Anika, are you?
Looking for you in every dream

What Dream?

I can’t shake the vision
Her face, the angles, curves
Slender fingers ice cold
The cherry blossom scent wafts
And I staring at her, voiceless
My lady of shadows?
No, for the words from her lips
Revealed her, though at first?
Not even Mars called out “My Damien?”
Never were that a phrase from her
Though Manda once yet she…
Would have no need to be sorry…
Sorry? For what? Why do I feel this
Braced as a man who tastes agonies kiss
I can’t keep seeing her
Yesterday after I woke I messaged Mars
Forgiveness, I gave it. Wrong person
I dreamt the dream again
Her eyes dark, pleading
“I’m sorry.” How do I reply?
Simply repeat that I try?
The poem I wrote for Anika
For the lady of dreams
‘I hold you prisoner in my mind’
It hits, “I am trying to let you go to him.”
I dreamt of another the day prior
As well also offered my forgiveness
Right before I found myself with her
Today I wake from repeated vision
Here you are, the phrase from her
“My Damien?” Like a question
And I look here, and you once more
How we both suffer agony
You for him… me for life itself

I wrote this as a reply to a comment about 21 days ago, realised I unintentionally wrote yet another poem. Poor girl no wonder I confuse her so.

Resolved to Forget

By Damien Knight

Need to hold you
Wipe away the grief
Long to see your face
I must know for sure
If these dreams are more
More than this fantasy
It is to your fortune
I’ll never open that door
Never know the flow
Of your raven waves of hair
Or hear the soft sobs
I cannot comfort you
Nor see the hair pins
You so love to wear
The trim of your nails
You flaunt with such care
The truth is I feel it
This empty love hurts
Yet it is mine to feel
Don’t call her Sora!
Forget years of visions
Dreams aren’t real
Nothing is and I am alone
I cannot blame her
This phantom of beauty
My years of misery
After all is my own

Foreseen

By Damien Knight

My muse, she threatens my heart
I know she did not intend this
I am weak to the ways of love
Worrying, longing for her happiness
When she leaves, she never will
And I, yes me, will be on her mind
Is it what we desired? I say no.
Yet, I believe my sight, she’d read my lines
I predicted once she’d come
Lured by poetry with no desire for me
She’d love another who matched my frame
Somehow, I’d help set her free
I don’t know if now is that dream
I stare dazed at my computer screen
My muse similar to my visions
If I ignore her is it ignoring the foreseen

The Seer’s Oracle

By Damien Knight

Do you think it possible?
Does your heart doubt?
Know that I desire to speak.
Lovely flower, I live without.
Your stature doesn’t match your fire.
I saw you, slender hand in my own.
Hair dark and thick like basalt.
I would not dare leave alone,
Princess, don’t ask me to abandon you.
You run, my vision, you flee from me.
Embracing fear of shame, embarrassed.
The structures your bound soul, not free.
Caged, complicated, the wood buildings
Chaotic but not indestructible, my dear
In the rainbow crystal balls I saw the seer
The seer knows, look in, don’t fear
Stare into the glow of the seer’s bowl
Will the society around you let you bloom?
“Take her in your arms,” he spoke.
If only I could, I would erase your gloom.

Agony’s King

By Damien Knight

Do not act in a way unnatural
Do not avoid the gaze of my eyes
I have spoken only truth
Here we are let’s not live lies
I regret pushing away again
I meditate and in vision see
A face small, round holding tears
Fighting hard to ignore me
I see myself too gazing at my phone
Constant for that notification
Speaking less and less, I understand
But my heart needs that affirmation
Do I call out, or let it go
I keep seeing these things
As long as you are happy and free
I will keep being agony’s king

Time To Wake

By Damien Knight

I would search the heavens, the moon, the stars, the universe
I would search the whole of earth, from Seattle, Seoul, Edinburgh, Hanoi
Every heartache, every face, ever dream I have, every written verse
I believe in fate, all things have a reason, alas though once more
I ought give up and embrace the truths laid out in front of me
Anika Sora, she lives in my fantasy, my deepest dreams
I am happy loving my angel, eyes like the bluest sky, soul like the sea
Ignore the visions of the past they brought agony, despair
Stop searching the heavens, the moon, the stars the endless skies
Stop hunting the earth from city, town and streets
No more verses calling out to a desperate dream of lies
Wake up Koraki, Damien, the night is end, embrace reality

In a Vision

By Damien Knight

There great stone dragon stood
I before it in the meadow
To implore of my destiny
And of the lady of the woods
The mist rose up with chimes
As of bells of temple prayer
Priestess once dragon stood there
“Forward young man,” Like music
Prostate before her I bow
Certain to know the truth
Stern she commands “stand!”
I do, “I will answer you now.”
A voice like the goddess rings
“Ask your guide, let her answer.”
“I seek the one, I seek her.”
“Tell me what is her name.”
Her hair ribbon she unties
Steps forward and speaks
“That which is ‘A’ has loyalty.”
“And of H tell me no lies.”
She grins “No love from L.”
Mist rose, voice divine echos
“You must return, you must go.”
Like words on wet paper she fades

Rekindled: An Aldaria Journal

By Damien Knight

Anika walked through the shopping mall. It had been weeks since her and Koraki spoke. The argument was over a simple cup of coffee, but Anika had built rage and stored it. She left distancing herself from him and her handmaiden, Sallandra.
Anika wondered if Koraki was with another woman now? Her stomach turned. The idea of someone else in his arms made her sick with jealousy but she didn’t dare tell him these thoughts.
Anika wandered into a store that carried dark clothes and odd jewellery. She glanced at a red and black corset dress. Maybe this would keep her mind off him. She then heard a cashier talk to another costumer.
“Can I help you today?”
Anika panicked when a familiar baritone replied. Why was he here? He pointed to tongue rings in the case.
“Oh! Yes, I would like the purple ones there please.” He said, “And the black brow ring too.”
“Let me get those out for you.” She answered.
The cashier went to get the key to unlock it. Anika hid in the clearance area her heart pound. She wasn’t sure she was ready to confront Koraki yet. She wasn’t sure she could look him in the eye. A brow ring, she thought, He pierced his brow? She wanted to see if it looked good, to touch it. Just then the voice interrupted her thoughts.
“I know you are there Anika,” He said.
Anika stepped out and gave a shy wave. Koraki smiled as the lady unlocked the case and retrieved the jewellery. Koraki pointed to his brow.
“Come, look at what I did,” He laughed.
“Did it hurt Koraki?” She whispered.
Anika crept closer and placed a finger on it. Koraki’s behaviour perplexed her. He acted like nothing was wrong. How did he forgive so easy?
“Yeah, a bit. I mean they shoved a needle in my eye. I missed you, Princess. What you been up too?”
Anika followed him as he went to the cash register to pay.
“Watching the kids, shopping, talking to Mum.”
Koraki nodded, then turned to look at her. His blue eyes warmed to her. Without saying a thing, he hugged her and let go.
“That’s fantastic! Seems like things are going good then for you?” He grinned.
“No, No Koraki they aren’t.” She blurted, “I don’t want to be alone to be without you.”
“You left on your own and whenever you feel ready, I am always there for you. Now come if you choose, I am going to the food court for a bite to eat.”
Anika nodded and followed. He was so confident she did not understand that as he spoke he doubted that she would come back to him. She didn’t know how much he missed her. Koraki sat down and she sat next to him.
“So, um, yeah I am not great at this but Anika…” He trailed.
“Yes.”
“Sora, I,” He blushed, “I would like to ask you out on a date. What do you think?”
Koraki had brushed her hair from her face. Anika gazed back confused, he even called her Sora.
“What do you mean a date? What do you do on dates?”
“Well when a guy likes a girl, he’s supposed to ask her out. Like, take her to movie or go to dinner. Um, I never was good at that though, asking a girl. Guess I don’t like hearing no. But I will take the chance with you. I love you.”
“A movie sounds nice. I would love to see the next “Harry Potter” movie. Do you want to see it?”
He nodded, “Actually, I wanted to see the new Pirates movie. Want to go this Friday?”
Anika squealed in surprise at this and threw her arms around him.
“Yes, oh Yes! I can’t wait.”
“Perfect so see you Friday then? You know you can call me anytime you want right?”
Anika’s face dropped, and an air of seriousness filled them. She lowered her head and spoke with soft hesitance.
“Koraki, should we stay, um, separate then for a while?”
“Oh, living arrangements. Um, yes prolly. We have smothered each other, Anika. I apologize for expecting too much of you. Now,” He stood up, “Give me a hug.”
Anika hugged him tight, and she looked up into his eyes. Koraki smiled, a grin so evil, so corrupted, and yet that jagged gleam brought her comfort. He pulled her in and she kissed those dark lips. He had forgiven her and still loved her. They could make this right, she could be his again.
“I love you, Koraki,” She whispered.
“I know.”
Koraki vanished from her arms. Anika’s heart pounded as her the emptiness once more filling her. No, she had to think positive. She was still his after all.
